We learned in previous post I thought to write post on I came across few good article and thoughts . I will improve more but thought to include to continue our thinking in right direction .
The process of contemplation, vichāra, is a threefold process that leads you to a state of silent contemplation through a process that first uses words.
Hearing the Truth!
There are two kinds of hearing…
- A -PARA
- Related with this world
- connects and defines our relationship with this world
- In which our ears, mind and intellect are involved.
- Can be described as routine or casual, sometimes interesting, saddening or entertaining.
- Whatever we learn or hear in this world will remain in this world
- Related with sustaining our existence
- objects are all changeable, impermanent and destructible.
B .APARA
In contrast, the hearing that involves the Heart and the core of our Beingness .It is enlightening.
Shravana is through Guru based on Guru and shishya parampara .
Guru create a shift in the inner space of your Beingness.
Manana- Understanding With Analysis- REFLECTION AND CONTEMPLATION
1.“Manana” means contemplating the Truth, to reflect, ponder, and contemplate the Guru’s words.
2.Hear the Truth again and again
3.Maya isn’t able to pull you away from the SELF.
4.Developing discernment and discrimination in utilizing the teachings. Just like how a white swan can separate milk from water, similarly we should be able to separate what is real, necessary, and wanted from an object from what is unreal, unnecessary, and unwanted.
But always remind yourself WHAT YOUR DIVINE PURPOSE IS!
Reflection (manana) is hundred times superior to listening (sravana)
“Nididhyasana” means living and breathing the Truth.
Nidhi means treasure- wisdom
Dhyayasa- means attention
Nididhyasana is the result of Shravana and Manana. When your hearing becomes authentic, and your contemplation and action become solid, polished and refined, then Nididhyasana arises on its own. It is effortless and Sahaja (spontaneous, natural).
Conclusion
Sravana : Listening to the teachings of the sages on Vedanta. Now instead of Sravana, we can use the word Study of Vedanta, because Sravana was the practice during early Vedic period as no method of writing existed.
Manana : This stage is the reflection on the teachings. This means thinking about what has been heard and subjecting that into a reason based on experience gained.
Nididhyasana : Stage of meditation on the truth [MahaVakyas]. It is the culmination of the practice of Sravana and Manana.
As we continue explore and learn about our own thoughts and action Sravana, Manana, Nididhyasana leads us to intuition (aparoksha anubhuti)
