This year our family celebrated Ganesha Chaturti for the 27th year, 21 of those years in the United States, alongside friends and family members. Beginning from Mumbai, Fremont, California, Austin, Texas, and Indianapolis, Ganesh ji has been with us every step of the way.
I have been making Ganesha idol since 1999 without any formal art training. This year, I made 3 Ganesha statues. One was for our mandir in which our laddoo loving Lord is presented in his most natkat and naïve form. Weighing in at 200 lbs and 40 inches tall, it took 7 full days to complete. The second one was roughly 50 lbs and 22 inches in height.
