Lord Ganesha arrives every year to teach us these six life lessons. Each alankar is significant and teaches us why we celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi.

Ganesh Chaturthi is a festival of love, joy, and happiness. Ganesha is known as “Vighnaharta,” the destroyer of obstacles. He embodies many life lessons. From his tiny mouth to his big ears and the objects in his six hands, everything can be decoded to teach us how to overcome obstacles in life. Ganesha is the ideal teacher from whom we can learn how to lead a happy and prosperous life.

The Symbolism of Ganesha’s Small Mouth and Big Ears

Ganesh has a small mouth to teach us the need to speak less and only when it is important. Ganesh teaches us to speak less but speak sweet. The more we speak, the less effective the quality of our words. However, the big ears show the need to be a good listener, receptive to everything that comes our way. When we listen better, we understand better and appreciate other perspectives. This leads to better relations with people.

The Symbolism of the Six Alankars/Adornments

Each alankar is significant and teaches us an important life lesson.

1. Axe (Kulhaadi)

The axe symbolizes a source of knowledge enabling us to cut down past karma and bad deeds in life. Knowledge means wisdom, which helps us decipher between wrong and right.

2. Rope (Rassi)

The rope is symbolic of tying yourself to the disciplines of life. Discipline is the key to unlock the powers of a soul and walk the path of wisdom.

4. Modak (Sweet)

The Modak has more than one significance. Making modak is not easy and is a lesson on the difficulties in life, which we need to face to achieve success. Since modak is sweet, it symbolizes the sweetness of success. Hard work brings success that we will savour.

A perspective on Ganesh ji

In the midst of invocation, immersion, research and experience are also so philosophical. Bringing the dancing Lord Ganesha into the house, the growing up of a family member, decorating the house in a new form, worshiping whatever can be done with devotion, work to make our sanskars more intense, shows the value of love in life. Establishment of idol of Ganesh ji means establishment of happiness, peace and development.

And when the time comes for immersion, then we should immerse our evils, anger, jealousy, pride, etc. Because God is always with you in the bondage of your ideology and your affection, he does not immerse anywhere.

After living together for some days, we learn the art of living life and then we leave by promising to meet in the next class at the next stage of life, brothers, today on immersion, look in your inner self and promise to improve yourself when God comes again. So we can also go before Him in a changed form.

Along with happiness and prosperity, rising above caste and caste in a pandal, we will again enjoy Ganeshotsav with devotion, with the promise that we will bid farewell to our deity, dance, sing and say that you will come soon next year.
