समुद्र लाँघने का परामर्श, जाम्बवन्त का हनुमान्जी को बल याद दिलाकर उत्साहित करना, श्री राम-गुण का माहात्म्य

Why prior to reading Sunderkand we must start with last portion of Kishkindakand– Hanuman ji get motivated to take up the assignment to go to lanka hence its important for us to know how to generate power and positivity in our life .Learning to be pure, strong yet humble. Even though Hanuman is very strong, he never got carried away in arrogance.Lets now learn and understand what we can learn from Hanuman ji

Hanuman was the son of the Wind God, Vyu, he was the best at jumping and must leap to Lanka. Hanuman had his father’s energy and swiftness, power and strength. (When Hanuman was a child he thought the sun was a ripe fruit and tried to jump up and catch it. He jumped so high that he nearly got burnt, but the Sun was impressed and gave Hanuman the gift of immortality as a reward for his courage and cleverness.)

Lord Hanuman symbolically stands for pure devotion, complete surrender without any trace of ego. As a monkey, he represents the lower self of man which thinks and behaves that he is just that body with limitations. But when he is reminded of who he is and what his strengths are; he gets connected to the higher and then serves and works for the higher after which he merges with that higher. All of us have that inner core strength and potential which when revealed to us can lead us to success both in the material as well as the spiritual world.

I have made efforts to include last portion of Kishkindakand from Tulsi  and Valmiki Ramayana separately  so that we get different perspective. I have included some portion in Hindi and English .Its my desire that when you have time please invest 10 minutes will surely gets you motivated in life like Hanuman ji  

भगवान हनुमान प्रतीकात्मक रूप से शुद्ध भक्ति के लिए खड़े हैं, बिना किसी अहंकार के पूर्ण समर्पण। एक बंदर के रूप में, वह मनुष्य के निचले स्व का प्रतिनिधित्व करता है जो सोचता है और व्यवहार करता है कि वह सीमाओं वाला वह शरीर है। लेकिन जब उसे याद दिलाया जाता है कि वह कौन है और उसकी ताकत क्या है; वह उच्चतर से जुड़ जाता है और फिर सेवा करता है और उच्चतर के लिए कार्य करता है जिसके बाद वह उस उच्चतर में विलीन हो जाता है। हम सभी के पास वह आंतरिक मूल शक्ति और क्षमता है जो हमारे सामने प्रकट होने पर हमें भौतिक और आध्यात्मिक दुनिया दोनों में सफलता की ओर ले जा सकती है।

मैंने तुलसी और वाल्मीकि रामायण से किष्किन्दकाण्ड के अंतिम भाग को अलग-अलग शामिल करने का प्रयास किया है ताकि हमें अलग दृष्टिकोण मिल सके। मैंने हिंदी और अंग्रेजी में कुछ अंश शामिल किया है। मेरी इच्छा है कि जब आपके पास समय हो तो कृपया 10 मिनट का निवेश करें, निश्चित रूप से आपको हनुमान जी की तरह जीवन में प्रेरणा मिलेगी।

Tulsi Ramayan –RAMCHARITRA MANAS

दोहा :* मैं देखउँ तुम्ह नाहीं गीधहि दृष्टि अपार।
बूढ़ भयउँ न त करतेउँ कछुक सहाय तुम्हार॥28॥

भावार्थ:-मैं उन्हें देख रहा हूँ, तुम नहीं देख सकते, क्योंकि गीध की दृष्टि अपार होती है (बहुत दूर तक जाती है)। क्या करूँ? मैं बूढ़ा हो गया, नहीं तो तुम्हारी कुछ तो सहायता अवश्य करता॥28॥

चौपाई :* जो नाघइ सत जोजन सागर। करइ सो राम काज मति आगर॥
मोहि बिलोकि धरहु मन धीरा। राम कृपाँ कस भयउ सरीरा॥1॥

भावार्थ:-जो सौ योजन (चार सौ कोस) समुद्र लाँघ सकेगा और बुद्धिनिधान होगा, वही श्री रामजी का कार्य कर सकेगा। (निराश होकर घबराओ मत) मुझे देखकर मन में धीरज धरो। देखो, श्री रामजी की कृपा से (देखते ही देखते) मेरा शरीर कैसा हो गया (बिना पाँख का बेहाल था, पाँख उगने से सुंदर हो गया) !॥1॥*

पापिउ जाकर नाम सुमिरहीं। अति अपार भवसागर तरहीं॥
तासु दूत तुम्ह तजि कदराई राम हृदयँ धरि करहु उपाई॥2॥

भावार्थ:-पापी भी जिनका नाम स्मरण करके अत्यंत पार भवसागर से तर जाते हैं। तुम उनके दूत हो, अतः कायरता छोड़कर श्री रामजी को हृदय में धारण करके उपाय करो॥2॥*

अस कहि गरुड़ गीध जब गयऊ। तिन्ह के मन अति बिसमय भयऊ॥
निज निज बल सब काहूँ भाषा। पार जाइ कर संसय राखा॥3॥

भावार्थ:-(काकभुशुण्डिजी कहते हैं-) हे गरुड़जी! इस प्रकार कहकर जब गीध चला गया, तब उन (वानरों) के मन में अत्यंत विस्मय हुआ। सब किसी ने अपना-अपना बल कहा। पर समुद्र के पार जाने में सभी ने संदेह प्रकट किया॥3॥*

जरठ भयउँ अब कहइ रिछेसा। नहिं तन रहा प्रथम बल लेसा॥
जबहिं त्रिबिक्रम भए खरारी। तब मैं तरुन रहेउँ बल भारी॥4॥

भावार्थ:-ऋक्षराज जाम्बवान् कहने लगे- मैं बूढ़ा हो गया। शरीर में पहले वाले बल का लेश भी नहीं रहा। जब खरारि (खर के शत्रु श्री राम) वामन बने थे, तब मैं जवान था और मुझ में बड़ा बल था॥4॥

दोहा :* बलि बाँधत प्रभु बाढ़ेउ सो तनु बरनि न जाइ।
उभय घरी महँ दीन्हीं सात प्रदच्छिन धाइ॥29॥

भावार्थ:-बलि के बाँधते समय प्रभु इतने बढ़े कि उस शरीर का वर्णन नहीं हो सकता, किंतु मैंने दो ही घड़ी में दौड़कर (उस शरीर की) सात प्रदक्षिणाएँ कर लीं॥29॥

चौपाई :* अंगद कहइ जाउँ मैं पारा। जियँ संसय कछु फिरती बारा॥
जामवंत कह तुम्ह सब लायक। पठइअ किमि सबही कर नायक॥1॥

भावार्थ:-अंगद ने कहा- मैं पार तो चला जाऊँगा, परंतु लौटते समय के लिए हृदय में कुछ संदेह है। जाम्बवान् ने कहा- तुम सब प्रकार से योग्य हो, परंतु तुम सबके नेता हो, तुम्हे कैसे भेजा जाए?॥1॥*

कहइ रीछपति सुनु हनुमाना। का चुप साधि रहेहु बलवाना॥
पवन तनय बल पवन समाना। बुधि बिबेक बिग्यान निधाना॥2॥

भावार्थ:-ऋक्षराज जाम्बवान् ने श्री हनुमानजी से कहा- हे हनुमान्! हे बलवान्! सुनो, तुमने यह क्या चुप साध रखी है? तुम पवन के पुत्र हो और बल में पवन के समान हो। तुम बुद्धि-विवेक और विज्ञान की खान हो॥2॥

* कवन सो काज कठिन जग माहीं। जो नहिं होइ तात तुम्ह पाहीं॥
राम काज लगि तव अवतारा। सुनतहिं भयउ पर्बताकारा॥3॥

भावार्थ:-जगत् में कौन सा ऐसा कठिन काम है जो हे तात! तुमसे न हो सके। श्री रामजी के कार्य के लिए ही तो तुम्हारा अवतार हुआ है। यह सुनते ही हनुमान्जी पर्वत के आकार के (अत्यंत विशालकाय) हो गए॥3॥

* कनक बरन तन तेज बिराजा। मानहुँ अपर गिरिन्ह कर राजा॥
सिंहनाद करि बारहिं बारा। लीलहिं नाघउँ जलनिधि खारा॥4॥

भावार्थ:-उनका सोने का सा रंग है, शरीर पर तेज सुशोभित है, मानो दूसरा पर्वतों का राजा सुमेरु हो। हनुमान्जी ने बार-बार सिंहनाद करके कहा- मैं इस खारे समुद्र को खेल में ही लाँघ सकता हूँ॥4॥*

सहित सहाय रावनहि मारी। आनउँ इहाँ त्रिकूट उपारी॥
जामवंत मैं पूँछउँ तोही। उचित सिखावनु दीजहु मोही॥5॥

भावार्थ:- और सहायकों सहित रावण को मारकर त्रिकूट पर्वत को उखाड़कर यहाँ ला सकता हूँ। हे जाम्बवान्! मैं तुमसे पूछता हूँ, तुम मुझे उचित सीख देना (कि मुझे क्या करना चाहिए)॥5॥

* एतना करहु तात तुम्ह जाई। सीतहि देखि कहहु सुधि आई॥
तब निज भुज बल राजिवनैना। कौतुक लागि संग कपि सेना॥6॥

भावार्थ:-(जाम्बवान् ने कहा-) हे तात! तुम जाकर इतना ही करो कि सीताजी को देखकर लौट आओ और उनकी खबर कह दो। फिर कमलनयन श्री रामजी अपने बाहुबल से (ही राक्षसों का संहार कर सीताजी को ले आएँगे, केवल) खेल के लिए ही वे वानरों की सेना साथ लेंगे॥6॥

छंद :* कपि सेन संग सँघारि निसिचर रामु सीतहि आनि हैं।
त्रैलोक पावन सुजसु सुर मुनि नारदादि बखानि हैं॥
जो सुनत गावत कहत समुक्षत परमपद नर पावई।
रघुबीर पद पाथोज मधुकर दास तुलसी गावई॥

भावार्थ:-वानरों की सेना साथ लेकर राक्षसों का संहार करके श्री रामजी सीताजी को ले आएँगे। तब देवता और नारदादि मुनि भगवान् के तीनों लोकों को पवित्र करने वाले सुंदर यश का बखान करेंगे, जिसे सुनने, गाने, कहने और समझने से मनुष्य परमपद पाते हैं और जिसे श्री रघुवीर के चरणकमल का मधुकर (भ्रमर) तुलसीदास गाता है।

दोहा :* भव भेषज रघुनाथ जसु सुनहिं जे नर अरु नारि।
तिन्ह कर सकल मनोरथ सिद्ध करहिं त्रिसिरारि॥30 क॥

भावार्थ:-श्री रघुवीर का यश भव (जन्म-मरण) रूपी रोग की (अचूक) दवा है। जो पुरुष और स्त्री इसे सुनेंगे, त्रिशिरा के शत्रु श्री रामजी उनके सब मनोरथों को सिद्ध करेंगे॥30 (क)॥

सोरठा :* नीलोत्पल तन स्याम काम कोटि सोभा अधिक।
सुनिअ तासु गुन ग्राम जासु नाम अघ खग बधिक॥30 ख॥

भावार्थ:-जिनका नीले कमल के समान श्याम शरीर है, जिनकी शोभा करोड़ों कामदेवों से भी अधिक है और जिनका नाम पापरूपी पक्षियों को मारने के लिए बधिक (व्याधा) के समान है, उन श्री राम के गुणों के समूह (लीला) को अवश्य सुनना चाहिए॥30 (ख)॥मासपरायण, तेईसवाँ विश्राम

इति श्रीमद्रामचरितमानसे सकलकलिकलुषविध्वंसने चतुर्थ: सोपानः समाप्त :।

कलियुग के समस्त पापों के नाश करने वाले श्री रामचरित् मानस का यह चौथा सोपान समाप्त हुआ।

Valmiki Ramayana – Kishkindha Kanda – Sarga 66 (Please double click to into more details)

Jambavan had to retell all of Hanuman’s past to the Vanara so as to remind him of his powers. The king of Bears didn’t do it by reciting any shloka.

The Vanaras were in a dilemma when they learned that the ocean needed to be crossed to find Sita Devi. At this point, different Vanaras talked about their capability to jump various distances and some said that they could cross the ocean but not come back.

Seeing Hanuman stand silently, Jambavan, the son of Brahma, spoke to the mighty Vayuputra and reminded him of his powers and abilities.^[1]

अनेक शत साहस्रीम् विषण्णाम् हरि वाहिनीम्।
जाम्बवान् समुदीक्ष्येवम् हनुमंतमथाब्रवीत्।।

On overseeing the crestfallen monkey-soldiery, which is with many hundreds and thousands of soldiers, then Jambavan said this way to Hanuman.

वीर वानर लोकस्य सर्व शास्त्रविदां वर।

तूष्णीमेकान्तमाश्रित्य हनुमन् किमं न जल्पसि।।

Oh, valiant one in the world of vanaras, being an erudite (knowledgeable) scholar among all the scriptural scholars, Hanuman, why do not you mumble something, why do you resort to a calmly loneliness?

हनुमन् हरि राजस्य सुग्रीवस्य समो ह्यसि।
राम लक्ष्मणयोः चापि तेजसा च बलेन च।।

By your brilliance and brawn, oh, Hanuman, you match up to king of monkeys Sugreeva, or even to Rama and Lakshmana, as well.

अरिष्टनेमिनः पुत्रो वैनतेयो महाबलः।
गरुत्मानिव विख्यात उत्तमः सर्व पक्षिणाम्।।

बहुशो हि मया दृष्टः सागरे स महाबलः।।
भुजगानुद्धरन् पक्षी महावेगो महायशाः।।

पक्षयोः यद्बलम् तस्य तावद्भुज बलम् तव।
विक्रमश्चापि वेगश्च न ते तेनापहीयते।।

बलम् बुद्धिश्च तेजश्च सत्त्वञ्च हरि सत्तम।
विशिष्टम् सर्व भूतेषु किमात्मानम् न सज्जसे।।

The son of Kashyapa Prajapati and Lady Vinata is the best bird among all the birds who is superbly mighty and who is universally renowned as Garuda.

Indeed, I have oftentimes seen that highly glorious, rapidly speedy, great mighty bird Garuda, pecking up reptiles from ocean.

Whatever is the strength of his wings, that much is the strength of you arms, and even by the yardsticks of his dash and dare, yours too, are unreproveable.

Oh forthright monkey, you are the finest among all beings by the dint of your force, faculty, flair, and fortitude. Why then is your unreadiness in this task of leaping ocean?

Jambavan goes on to describe the boon of Vayu the wind God to Anjana and how Hanuman was born.

मनसाऽस्मि गतो यत्त्वाम् परिष्वज्य यशस्विनि।
वीर्यवान् बुद्धि संपन्नः पुत्रः तव भविष्यति।।

महासात्त्वो महातेज महाबल पराक्रमः।
लंघने प्लवने चैव भविष्यति मया समः।।

एवमुक्ता ततः तुष्टा जननी ते महाकपेः।
गुहायाम् त्वाम् महाबाहो प्रजज्ञे प्लवगर्षभ।।

By my presence in your mind, you are impregnated in a supersensory manner, thereby you will beget (generate ) a valiant son endowed with intellect.

An admirably brave, and a bravely dazzling, and a dazzlingly forceful, and a forcefully overpowering son will be there, also thus, he will be a coequal of mine in flying off and jumping up.

Oh arcane monkey Hanuman, when Air-god said so to her, oh, ambidextrous one, your mother is gratified, and then, oh, bullish fly-jumpers, your mother very well divined you in a cave.

The great Jambavan describes the boons received by Hanuman making him realize his powers, long forgotten.

प्रसादिते च पवने ब्रह्मा तुभ्यम् वरम् ददौ।
अशस्त्र वध्यताम् तात समरे सत्य विक्रम।।

वज्रस्य च निपातेन विरुजम् त्वाम् समीक्ष्य च।
सहस्र नेत्रः प्रीतात्मा ददौ ते वरमुत्तमम्।।

स्वच्छंदतश्च मरणम् तव स्यादिति वै प्रभो।
स त्वम् केसरिणः पुत्रः क्षेत्रजो भीम विक्रमः।।

मारुतस्यौरसः पुत्रस्तेजसा चापि तत् समः।
त्वम् हि वायु सुतो वत्स प्लवने चापि तत् समः।।

Oh, chivalric warrior at war, while the Air-god is being supplicated, oh, dear boy, Brahma gave you a boon decreeing your indestructibility by any missile.

On scrutinizing that you are unhurt even after hit by Thunderbolt, oh, ablest Hanuman, the Thousand-eyed Indra kind-heartedly gave you a choicest boon saying that your death occurs only by your own volition.

Such as you are, you are Kesari’s son through his wife, oh, frightful pugilist, and you are the lineal son of Air-god, and even by your gusting you are selfsame to Air-god, and even by your flying also you are his selfsame to Air-god, in all respects.

उत्तिष्ठ हरि शार्दूल लंघयस्व महार्णवम्।
परा हि सर्व भूतानाम् हनुमन् या गतिः तव।।

Arise, oh, lion-like monkey, leap over this vast ocean, oh, Hanuma, your escape velocity is indeed unlike that of all the other beings.

At that moment, Hanuman, having realized and having been reminded of all his abilities, decided to go to Lanka.

ततः कपीनामृषभेण चोदितः
प्रतीत वेगः पवनात्मजः कपिः।
प्रहर्षयन् ताम् हरि वीर वाहिनीम्
चकार रूपम् महदात्मनस्तदा।।

Thereafter, the best of the monkeys whose speed is familiar coupled with his irresistible enterprise being motivated by Jambavan- the king of bears- enormously increased his physique as though to gladden the army of monkeys.

This is how Jambavan motivated Hanuman and reminded him of his special powers to cross the ocean and reach the Golden City of Lanka, by explaining his past and about the boon the Vayuputra received.

Conclusion

We can clearly observe that in the entire Kishkinda Kanda and in Yuddha Kanda, Hanuman acts at the orders of Shri Rama, Sugriva, Jambavan, and didn’t show his strength unnecessarily, gave unsolicited advice and acted on his own. He remained in the side lines, working either under Sugriva/Angada, according to the situation.

Hanuman, the valiant Monkey god was the avatar of Lord Shiva .Lord Hanuman had many boons from various gods. He knew that he could fly since he was an ape(vanara) and also due to him being the son of Kesari, who was also a vanara. He was also the biological son of Vayu Deva, the wind god and hence, he possessed the ability to fly. He knew that he possessed great powers and strength in him. The only thing which he was not too sure about was that he was capable of flying all the way to Lanka alone, crossing the sea, burning the city and killing the demons to deliver a message of Shri Rama to Maa Sita.

It was then Jambavan, the king of bears made him realise his immense powers and strength. The bear told Lord Hanuman that he was a storehouse of intelligence and spiritual wisdom. Then, after listening to those encouraging words from Jambavan, the mighty son of the Wind God increased his size, due to him being blesed with boons and siddhis.

Hence in our life we need person like Jamvant i how can motivate us to remain positive and keep our inner heart developing in helping ourselves and other to reach our goal to gain success .

What we can learn from Hanuman ji dealing with difficulties to achieve success in life. I have classified 12 scenarios in Sunderkand that we can learn to improve our life . My objective with blessings of Hanuman ji is to express each of 12 learning scenario during our discussion in depth of Sunderkand .

1) Jamwant – Identifying  hidden  Potential   जामवंत- अंतर समाहित क्षमता

Background of Jamvant ji

Jambavan is also known as Jambavantha, Jamvanta, or Jambuvan the King of the Bears. However, he was described as a Vanara or monkey in the Valmiki Ramayana. He is also famous as a Riksharaj, Brahma created him to aid Ram in his battle with Ravana. He was there at the ocean’s churning and is said to have circled Vamana seven times while gaining the three worlds from Mahabali.

जाम्बवन को जाम्बवंत, जामवंत, या जंबुवन द किंग ऑफ द बियर्स के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। हालाँकि, वाल्मीकि रामायण में उन्हें वानर या बंदर के रूप में वर्णित किया गया था। वह एक रिक्शाराज के रूप में भी प्रसिद्ध हैं, ब्रह्मा ने उन्हें रावण के साथ युद्ध में राम की सहायता के लिए बनाया था

He is also known as the Himalayan King, who came to Earth in the form of a bear to aid Rama. Lord Rama promised him that he would live for a longer time and that he would have incredible strength equivalent to that of 10 million lions. When Rama’s wife Sita was abducted by Ravana, he assisted Rama in rescuing Sita. Jambavan was instrumental in convincing Hanuman that he possessed tremendous power and was capable of searching Ravana’s kingdom for Sita. Jambavan and Hanuman have many essential life lessons for us to grasp.

उन्हें हिमालय के राजा के रूप में भी जाना जाता है, जो राम की सहायता के लिए भालू के रूप में पृथ्वी पर आए थे। भगवान राम ने उनसे वादा किया था कि वह लंबे समय तक जीवित रहेंगे और उनके पास एक करोड़ शेरों के बराबर अविश्वसनीय ताकत होगी। जब रावण द्वारा राम की पत्नी सीता का अपहरण किया गया था, तो उन्होंने सीता को बचाने में राम की सहायता की थी। जाम्बवन ने हनुमान को यह समझाने में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई थी कि उनके पास जबरदस्त शक्ति है और वह सीता के लिए रावण के राज्य की खोज करने में सक्षम थे। जाम्बवन और हनुमान के पास हमें समझने के लिए कई आवश्यक जीवन पाठ हैं।

Lessons for Life

When the Vanaras realised they would not be able to cross the ocean to find Sita Devi, they were in a pickle. Jambavan reminded Hanuman of his actual powers and potential as he stood patiently in this scenario. He lauded Hanuman, saying, “Arise, oh Hanuman, you are the Sankata Mochana, the remover of perils, sufferings, and barriers, jump across this wide ocean, your escape velocity is unrivalled by any other entity”.

जब वानरों को एहसास हुआ कि वे सीता देवी को खोजने के लिए समुद्र पार नहीं कर पाएंगे, तो वे एक कठिन स्थिति में थे। जाम्बवन ने हनुमान जी को उनकी वास्तविक शक्तियों और क्षमता की याद दिलाई क्योंकि वे इस परिदृश्य में धैर्यपूर्वक खड़े थे। उन्होंने हनुमान की प्रशंसा करते हुए कहा, "उठो, हे हनुमान, आप संकट मोचन हैं, संकटों, कष्टों और बाधाओं को दूर करने वाले, इस विस्तृत महासागर में आपके बिना कोई नहीं कर सकता । आपका प्रचंड वेग बेजोड़ है"

Hanuman chose to go to Lanka at that point, having recognized and been reminded of all of his powers. Lord Hanuman, as a Vanara (monkey), represents man’s lower self, which believes and acts as he is nothing more than a body with limitations. When Jambavan reminds him of who he is and what his strengths are, he connects with the higher self and then serves and works for mankind’s savior.

हनुमान जी ने उस समय लंका जाने का फैसला किया, उन्हें उनकी सभी शक्तियों को पहचान लिया । भगवान हनुमान, एक वानर (बंदर) के रूप में, मनुष्य के निचले स्वरूप का प्रतिनिधित्व करते हैं, क्योंकि वह सीमाओं के साथ एक शरीर से ज्यादा कुछ नहीं है। जब जाम्बवन उन्हें  याद दिलाते हैं कि उनका स्वरूप क्या है वो कौन है और उनकी शूरता  कितनी है और यह  जानकर हनुमान जी परमेश्वर  के कार्य के लिए अपनी आत्मा से जुड़ जाते है। जिसका उद्देश्य से सिर्फ़  मानव जाति के कल्याण के लिए सेवा करना ही है । 

Even a bitter truth drips with optimism, and the sweetest falsehood has the darkest intent behind it, thus truth always prevails, no matter how cruel or toxic the lie is. The triumph of virtue over evil is an unavoidable outcome. A noble heart and excellent ideals should always be present in a person. Encourage to face challenges When the time came to cross the ocean in quest of Maa Sita, Jamavanth told him that only Hanuman is capable of doing so, and reminded him that he was born of Vayu and had extraordinary skills
