Learning Swami Vivekananda

Swami Vivekananda who was instrumental in introducing the Indian philosophies of Vedanta to the western world. Best remembered for his inspiring words, he continues to live on in his quotes.

1. You cannot believe in God until you believe in yourself.

2. Arise! Awake! and stop not until the goal is reached.

3. You have to grow from the inside out. None can teach you, none can make you spiritual. There is no other teacher but your own soul.

4. “In a conflict between the heart and the brain, follow your heart.

5. “They alone live, who live for others.”

6. “Neither seek nor avoid, take what comes.”

7. “Comfort is no test of truth. Truth is often far from being comfortable.”

8. “The fire that warms us can also consume us; it is not the fault of the fire.

9. “Ask nothing; want nothing in return. Give what you have to give; it will come back to you, but do not think of that now.”

10. “Do one thing at a Time, and while doing it put your whole Soul into it to the exclusion of all else.” Let’s learn any idea that is meaningful in enhancing your moral values to improve our  personal life

Conclusion : I am so proud to see at young age what Swami Vivekanand ji has given us a treasure that we can follow our entire life . I has occasion along with many others to attend 2019 2nd World Hindu Congress in Chicago to commemorate 125 years of Swami Vivekananda’s historic Chicago address at the World Parliament of Religions (Sep 11 1893). He best known for his speech which began with the words “Sisters and brothers of America...,” in which he introduced Hinduism at the Parliament of the World’s Religions in Chicago .If you have time listen to his speech https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2uQIOgo8phA

Abstain from Self Approbation –

When Hanuman returned from Lanka with the message of Sita’s well-being. He did not claim about his courage in front of Lord Rama proving his nobility.

In life  we find many occasions that even  we have done small work or deed for someone , we expect lot of appreciation . I also have personal experience  even if sometimes we know for sure no one has done anything for you still the person claim that our success is due to his  assistance in our life . So best way to increase our positivity  in life  – “Always  do good karma and forget anything good you have done for  our friends and family “  I also heard from my dad that we should develop habit that if we did something good from one hand then our own other hand  shouldn’t know about it  so that we continuously develop good thoughts to think what else good we can do for community . It’s universal principle that if we do something good  then God gives us  lot of blessings  in the form of “RETUN GIFT”.

My sister Kiran Gupta beautiful correlated Naradji story

Once Narada practiced severe austerities in the Himalayas. Indra (King of Gods) became suspicious of Narada and decided to tempt him with worldly pleasures to break his penance. With this in mind, Indra asked Kamadeva (God of love) to break Narada’s penance.

Kama came to the spot where Narada was sitting, deep in meditation. As he shot the first arrow the scene suddenly changed into a beautiful valley and a beautiful damsel appeared before Narada. She began to dance before him. But Narada’s eyes where closed to her charms.

She pleaded, “O sage, open your eyes and behold your slave.”

But Narada hardly heard her. Realizing, that she would never succeed in distracting the sage, the damsel left for her heavenly abode. Kamadeva had to acknowledge his defeat. Narada then opened his eyes and asked that who sent him here. “Lord Indra”, replied Kamdeva.

Narada said – “Go and tell Indra that Narada has conquered all desires, that he is above temptation,

Narada gloated over his achievement and thought, that he has defeated Kama. So, Lord Shiva is no longer the only conqueror of this invincible god. He must go and tell Lord Shiva about it. He must accept him as his equal.

He went to Kailasa, paid his salutations to Lord Shiva and said, “I have conquered Kamadeva. Indra sent him to tempt me. But Kamadeva failed.”

Lord Shiva replied, “I am glad to know that. But keep the matter to yourself. In any case never brag about it to Lord Vishnu.”

Narada left Kailasa and pondered, he should speak about his success to Lord Vishnu who love him so dearly. He went to Vishnu’s abode and paid his respect to the lord. Vishnu invited the sage warmly and said – “Come Narada! I am so pleased to see you.”

Narada said, “You will be more so my lord, when you learn that I, your devotee, have conquered Kamadeva. Shiva is no longer the only conqueror of Kamadeva. I, your devotee, am above temptation too.”

Vishnu laughed and said, “Is that so? But never cease to be on your guard. You never know…”

Narada left from there and wondered – “Vishnu didn’t seem to pleased about my achievements either. I am no weakling. Doesn’t he know that? Why should he warn me to be on my guard?

Conclusion : If we need to grow in our life then its important to develop maturity that success is not only due to efforts but in life many have helped us to come to current position . Hence important from Narad ji example try to Abstain from Self Approbation

Choose the path of righteousness “–

Vibhishana, younger brother of Ravana chose to not support his sibling in the war against Ram. He knew his brother had committed a sin by abducted someone—a married lady.

Yes,  adapting right path is not easy as this  may require sacrifice of our association with close relations  if we observe  differences due to  individual’s  selecting wrong  choices . Initially it’s hard to  achieve success  with following the moral values as we may find people around us  adopt short cut path  to get quick result . Its our judgement and personal choice that motivate us  during  any circumstances  direct our mind and thought’s in right direction to  execute  our daily task.

In my opinion most important  parameter  is to  talk with ourselves  to make judgment . Success through short cut will also be  “short “ means such approach can’t  sustain long term success. We all limited or constrained with our thoughts and action to make right choice . Let’s seek guidance from Hanumanji to continue  follow good karma with proven path to acquire happiness in our life .

Conclusions

I feel myself as very fortunate to have you all as ASSETS in my life to get support to reduce my LIABILITY by bring joy and reduce stress. Let’s keep our friendship like ShriRam and Sugreev with help of our loving Hanumanji to get his blessings for strong determination and commitment that is must to remain successful. Always count on our blessings what we have achieved and keep positivity by always ready to adopt changes for self improvement
